The early Church vs modern American Church

An excerpt. I love this book. It really exposes our modern, American Church, and how much we truly are lacking.
“The early Church experienced an atmosphere change on the Day of Pentecost. This was not an isolated touch. What was the key to the supernatural culture that the early Church walked in, where miracles, deliverances, and mass salvations occurred on a regular basis?

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47).

Moving forward, the first church community devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship. They made radical lifestyle adjustments to accommodate what God was doing, rather than just adding Him to their already busy lives. He was the center of everything. He was top priority. His Spirit was paramount. The Word was final and definitive. The early Church had a culture of continuous power because they managed to sustain an atmosphere of presence.” Chapter 22

Letting go of “me”.

“To seek the fulfillment of ourselves in God—that is, to seek only the blessings and refreshing of God, but not seek God for himself—this type of spirituality is the enemy of the cross of Christ.—ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS”

Revival is…

An excerpt from, “The Fire That Never Sleeps” that is so, spot on. America, it’s time for revival!

“A true revival means nothing less than a revolution, casting out the spirit of worldliness and selfishness, and making God and His love triumph in the heart and life.

—ANDREW MURRAY”
